With the rain lashing down outside and people arriving in waterproofs and boots it was not exactly Strawberry Tea weather nevertheless 33 brave souls made it to church for tea, scones and strawberries. The room had been beautifully decorated with co-ordinating red flowers, napkins and pots for the cream and jam, all complementing the fresh strawberries.

The room was soon buzzing with conversation and the intrepid helpers were kept busy in pouring tea, serving cake and replenishing plates of home-made scones. There was much laughter and reminiscing of how hot and sunny it had been for last years event, new friends were made and there was a time and a space to have a longer conversation with people you might only have time to greet when walking around the village.

Thanks to those who organised it on the day, and a special thanks to Steve Willis of Crimple Valley Fresh who donated the strawberries and cream for the tea.

Over £140 was raised this year, which will be passed on to Horticap with our blessings.
